Joy Lutheran Church

Joy is large enough to have great things happening all the time and small enough that the pastor and others know your name.”  Beverly S. Member of Joy

Advent began Sunday, November 27th  encompasses the four Sundays and weekdays that lead up to Christmas.

Advent Wreath has no beginning or end, reminding us of the eternity of God’s love and the everlasting love we find in Jesus.

1st Candle – Hope or Prophecy Candle  reminds us God has fulfilled all of his Old Testament prophecies concerning the coming Savior.

2nd Candle – Love or Bethlehem Candle reminds us God prepared for the coming of his Son into the manger.

3rd Candle – Joy or Shepherd’s Candle reminds us to tell this good news of the birth of Jesus with joy, just like the shepherds did after they saw the child in the manger

4th Candle – Peace or Angel’s Candle reminds us of the Christian’s great hope of resurrection and everlasting life because the Christ Child will come again.

“An Advent Observed” is a collection of daily devotions presented by clergy and lay people across NC and SC. Our very own Pastor Lane is participating!
