The Carpenter’s Table
The Carpenter’s Table was formed in 2001, by concerned people from Tyger River Presbyterian Church, Joy Lutheran Church, and Nazareth Presbyterian Church. A food pantry was established to provide assistance to people in need on the west side of Spartanburg County. In 2004, there were just 32 families served by the food pantry. Currently, our Outreach Center serves hundreds of households each month.
The Carpenter’s Table is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. They rely heavily on food and monetary contributions from individuals and businesses in the area.
Through financial support and food donations we are able to provide food to students in our local schools. These children receive a backpack of food every weekend. This ministry starts up with the school year in September after Labor Day.
Opportunity Hub (formerly SPIHN) helps the homeless of Spartanburg County. They provide compassionate, loving support with shelter, meals, and supportive services through a faith-based network to homeless families of Spartanburg County, by fostering and promoting growth for a successful transition to independence.
Midway Residential Facility is a home for those who have difficulty care for themselves and is located near the church. This provides an excellent opportunity for us to be the hands and voice of God.
Joy Lutheran and Inman Presbyterian Church partner together to assist needy families in obtaining and/or maintaining their own transportation. Joy’s financial support and many volunteer hours help provide donated cars or repair usable cars for families in need.
