You can help
and make a difference!

The ELCA's Lutheran Disaster Response has a long history of faithfully responding to disasters and staying involved through every phase of response, recovery and rebuilding.  A gift of any dollar amount would be helpful to those affected by the recent hurricanes.  Please clearly mark your offering "Disaster Response" and place it in the offering plate.  We will make sure that your gift gets to those who need it the most.

Columbarium News

Columbarium niches are now for sale. A columbarium is a setting for human cremains that allows for ease of visitation, meditation, and prayer.  The Joy Lutheran Church Columbarium will be comprised of 80 niches to store the ashes of our active church members and their families.  Each niche holds up to two urns.  The introductory price of each niche is $1250 until January 2018.  If you wish, three installment payments can be made.  After January 2, 2018 the price of each niche will be $1500 and installment payments can no longer be accepted.  Please see the display table in the Gathering Area to see the columbarium design and speak with a member of the Columbarium Team. You may call the church office to make an appointment with Becky to purchase your niche.

All Saints' Day

Beginning October 8, a white altar cloth will be available in the Gathering Area on which you can write the names of your saints.  Because your saints' names will be written on the cloth, they will not be listed in the bulletin.  There will be a Table of Remembrance in the Gathering Area on All Saints' Day, November 8.  You are invited to light a candle to remember your saint.

Joy's Reformation Time Line

On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther, A Roman Catholic priest and professor of theology, took a step that, ultimately, was to impact all of Christendom and change the course of world history. On that day, after years of often agonizing study, prayer, and reflection, Luther posted The Ninety-Five Theses on the door of Wittenberg’s All Saints (Castle) Church. What Luther considered flawed teachings and abusive practices of Roman Catholic Church these propositions created a widespread call for change and reform in the church.  October 31, 2017, will mark the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.
