I married my childhood sweetheart, David, in 1969. We lived in Florida and Georgia before finally making Spartanburg our home. We have two sons. Josh is married to Michelle and they have two children Hunter and Madi; and Casey is married to Sarah and they have a new baby, Jack.
I graduated from the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg with a BA degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and taught in Spartanburg public middle schools 18 years before joining the staff at Joy in February 2005.
I enjoy coming to Joy every day. Some jobs are jobs, but my work at Joy is more of an adventure. I try to greet and meet all visitors and follow up with their interest and growth in Joy by visiting, sending cards, and making phone calls. As visitors become members I continue to help them grow and become more involved in the faith and fellowship of Joy. Frequent visitors and new members are invited to learn more about Joy and Lutherans when they attend my Sunday School class “Crazy Talk”.
David and I have been members of Joy since August 2002. We both grew up Baptist and after we were married we attended the United Methodist Church. We enjoy the liturgical services and have grown in our faith since attending Joy. We’ve not attended other Lutheran churches, but we knew by the welcoming outreach and love of Joy, this was the church for us.
Besides reading and crocheting, I enjoy spending time cooking, baking and scrapbooking with my granddaughter Madi by my side. Madi especially likes to join me when we visit with SPIHN guests and volunteer at The Carpenter’s Table.
